We have a 2012 Tecnam P2008 for rental (dual or solo) and a 2022 Cirrus SR22 available dual-only
The home base for both aircraft is Marina Airport (KOAR) near Monterey, CA, but we also have availability at Byron Airport, (C83), near Stockton, CA
We have numerous instructors to whom we can refer you to for instruction and checkouts in our Tecnam P2008. Instructors are contracted and paid directly by students and are not employees of Discovery Aviation
For flights in our Cirrus SR22 we provide rentals only as dual instruction. We have a Cirrus CSIP (Cirrus Standardized Instructor Pilot) available for dual instruction.
Reach out to us via the "contact us" form and we will follow up to answer any questions you have about our aircraft and the checkout process. If you know you want to rent, just download the rental package from the download section (see menu), complete it and email to bonny@discoveryaviation.org
Please note that the rental application has a checkout form that requires you to review the Tecnam manual and answer questions - download the manual from the download section of the website.
To register for lessons or rentals please send us your request (including your phone number) in the contact us form.
If you know you want to rent, and want to speed up the process, please download the rental application from the downloads section (see dropdown menu). Fill out the forms and rental checkout (all answers to the quiz can be found in the manuals also in the download section). Send the completed package to bonny@discoveryaviation.org
We will follow up with instructions on how to register, find an instructor and schedule your first lesson or aircraft rental check out. Once registered, you will be able to book your own rentals and instruction through our scheduling platform hosted by Flight Schedule Pro.
After your initial lessons or checkout flight(s), and before you rent the aircraft without an instructor (or solo), you will be required to purchase insurance.
To rent the Tecnam without an instructor you must purchase your own non-owned aircraft renter's insurance policy. The insurance must have at least a $250,000 per occurance and $25,000 per passenger liability coverage, and $5,000 aircraft damage coverage. You can purchase this insurance from such providers as Skywatch, Traversaviation.com, Starr Aviation, EAA, AOPA and others. Please include "Discovery Aviation, Inc." as additional insured (it won't cost you extra to have this included). Typical cost for this insurance is $150-$250/yr
If you wish to be an approved instructor, you should purchase non-owned aircraft instructor insurance with the same limits as above. Insurance can be found at Safepilots.org, NAFI, EAA, Skywatch and others. Please include "Discovery Aviation, Inc." as additional insured (it won't cost you extra to have this included)
Since the Cirrus SR-22 can only be rented via dual instruction, the insurance is provided as part of the rental/instruction combined rate.
